New cleaning concentrate reduces downtime
Scheduled or unscheduled shutdowns and the subsequent start-ups of wind turbines are significant cost-factors which should be avoided as much as possible. Klϋber Lubrication has developed a new synthetic cleaning concentrate Kl¨¹ber Summit Varnasolv HV. It allows carrying out oil changes and cleaning wind turbine gears during operation. The new cleaning concentrate efficiently dissolves sticky residues, varnish and carbon build-up. After flushing, the gearbox is ready for the new oil.
"The gearboxes can be cleaned during operation since the high viscosity of Kl¨¹ber Summit Varnasolv HV matches the viscosity of the gear oil. Downtime of the turbine can therefore be avoided." explains Thomas Jørgensen from Business Unit Wind Energy of Kl¨¹ber Lubrication. "The used oil is subsequently drained to flush out any unwanted residues.¡±
By efficiently cleaning the residue from the gearbox, the new liquid concentrate also reduces maintenance costs. Kl¨¹ber Summit Varnasolv HV is neutral towards the material of the seals when used in accordance with directions. Though designed for cleaning gearboxes in wind turbines, the new cleaning concentrate can also be used for applications such as filter housings and tubes containing carbon build-up or aged oil residues. Kl¨¹ber Summit Varnasolv HV is fully compatible with mineral, synthetic hydrocarbon and ester oils.
