Long oil change intervals and excellent wear protection for gear teeth and rolling bearings
As the power rating of wind turbines is increasing, loads and temperatures acting within the confined space of the main gearbox are on the rise. Consequently, it is challenging for the gear oils used to attain service life, load and thermal resistance targets. Further critical issues are resistance to wear and micropitting as well as foam and residue formation. The Kl¨¹bersynth GEM 4 N series of highly load-resistant, synthetic gear oils made by Kl¨¹ber Lubrication have proven successful in improving the reliability of wind power plants around the world.

The Kl¨¹bersynth GEM 4 N series of gear oils offer high resistance to scuffing and micropitting as well as very good wear protection for teeth and rolling bearings. Thanks to the excellent ageing properties and oxidation resistance of these synthetic oils, they attain a much longer service life than mineral oil-based lubricants. They also show a good viscosity-temperature behaviour, supporting the formation of a sufficient lubricant film even at high temperatures. These oils possess excellent anti-foaming characteristics by the use of high quality raw materials in combination with suitable anti-foaming additives. The wide service temperature range of the Kl¨¹bersynth GEM 4 N series makes it more versatile allowing customers to use a single viscosity class for both high and low temperatures.
