Spartan Precision Machinery now offers extended turning height models for its heavy-duty, Momentum MVL line of vertical turning lathes (VTLs). Momentum¡¯s MVLs are offered in sizes from 63" to 98" swing, with optional milling capability. The product additions include ¡°extended turning height" versions of the popular MVL-12 and MVL-12M and MVL-16 and MVL-16M models. Appended with an ¡°HS¡± model designation, these machines offer significantly greater machining range. For example, the MVL-12HS has a 63" swing that allows for a 76" turning height. The MVL-16HS is a 78"-swing machine that provides a 94" turning height.
Standard features also include oversized rams and other major components; full-wrap, arc-shaped columns; heavy-duty rail elevation and locking components; floor-mounted toolchangers; twin-gear C-axis drives (on models with milling capacity); single-piece saddles; oversized, spiral-gear table drives; gear reduction on linear-axis motors; and thrust and radial table bearings. All models feature FANUC controls.
According to Spartan, these models provide advantages in horsepower, machine mass and maximum table load when compared with similarly-sized VTLs. All models are said to come with performance guarantees.
