Schaeffler and Audi look forward to Norisring home round
Next weekend, the Norisring round marks one of the highlights of the DTM season. The track in the heart of Nuremberg with the adjacent Dutzendteich lake and a crowd of more than 100,000 has a unique flair ¨C nicknamed ¡°Franconian Monaco¡± for good reason. Audi driver Mike Rockenfeller in his Schaeffler Audi RS 5 DTM is aiming to score as many points as possible in races seven and eight of the season. Most recently, Rocky shone at the Lausitzring as the fastest Audi driver in qualifying. Now he¡¯s shooting for his first podium of the year.
The weekend is a special one for the 2013 DTM Champion. Vehicle partner Schaeffler¡¯s headquarters in Herzogenaurach is only 30 kilometers and the Audi plant in Ingolstadt 90 kilometers away from the Norisring. The 2.3-kilometer circuit is not only the shortest one on the calendar but also the only city street circuit. Many bumps and barriers directly alongside the track challenge the drivers and numerous overtaking maneuvers make for spectacular motorsport.
